Olen B. Carney

Olen Burl Carney age 85, Paden City. died Thursday
Dec. 21, 2006,
in Sistersville General Hospital. Burl was born Dec.
6 1921,in Proctor, in Wetzel County. The son of the late Carl and Edna
Calvert Carney . He was a retried mason for Ormet Corporation in Hannibal Ohio., a U.S. Army veteran
serving in both in World War II and the Korea war a member of the Paden City
American Legion Post no.86 and attended the Paden City Church of Christ. In
addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and
Dale Carney. Surviving are his wife of 59 years Genevieve Anderson Carney; two
sons Dennis Carney and his wife Judy, of Paden City. and Danny Carney and his wife
Stacey, of Paden City; three sisters, Maxine Blake of Florida, Doris Adkins of
New Martinsville, and Wilda Witschey
and her husband Bill of New Martinsville; four grandchildren. Shawna Carney, Chris Koerber and
her husband Wayne, and Mike Carney.and
several nieces and nephews. Friends were received on Dec. 23, at the Jarvis
Funeral Home in Paden City, where funeral services were held
on Dec. 24. Interment at Paden Memorial Gardens in Paden City.
Charles Alden Carse
Charles A. Carse, 85, of Middlebourne, died Thursday,
December 27, 1979 in Community Hospital, Springfield, Ohio. He was a veteran of World War 1.
He was a retired guard at West Virginia State Penitentiary and a former
assessor of Tyler County. Surviving are a son, Siboney Carse of Springfield; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret (Peg) Billington of Twin Falls, Idaho; a sister, Mrs. Fonda Weitz of Cleveland; seven grandchildren and one great
grandchild. Friends received at the Goodwin Funeral Home, Middlebourne, where
services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday. Interment
in Beechwood cemetery, Alma.
Mrs. Jane Carse
Mrs. Jane Carse, aged 75, widow of Jefferson Carse, died Friday morning at 5 o;clock in the Gist nursing home at Sistersville of
complications following paralysis. She had been ill six years. Mrs. Carse, daughter of the late Joseph and Martha Swan Archer,
was born at Adonis, Tyler County on May 3,
1866. Fifty
four years ago she was married to Jefferson Carse of
Pleasants county, who died seven years ago. Mr. and
Mrs. Carse resided many years at Beaver, Pa where he
was a carpenter-contractor. About fifteen years ago they returned to Tyler County and resided at Paden City, later going back to Beaver, where
Mr. Carse died. Since that time his widow lived at
Sistersville. Mrs. Carse was a member of the Nazarene Church. Her only son, Joseph preceded her
in death. She leaves three grandchildren, Betty, Irene and Jay Carse all of New Cumberland, WV; three sisters, Mrs. Mary
McKay of Sistersville; Mrs. John W. Smith of Middlebourne and Mrs. James J.
Parker of Paden City, and one brother, Postmaster J.C.
Archer of Sistersville. Funeral services were held in Sistersville at the
Campbell-Frame funeral home Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock (daylight time). Officiating was
the Rev. Samuel Johnson of the Nazarene church at Barnesville, Ohio. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery. 1941
Mary Carse
Mrs. Mary M. Carse, 80, of 1118 Ninth Street, Moundsville, died at 4:30 on last Thursday morning at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Fonda Witz in Cleveland, Ohio where she had been visiting. Mrs. Carse had been seriously ill for three days. She had
resided with her son Alden Carse at 1118 Ninth Street, Moundsville since 1934 and was
formerly of Wick, Tyler County. She was a native of Monroe County, Ohio where she was born on October
5, 1852, a
daughter of Seamer and Susan Nalley
McKnight. Mrs. Carse was a lifelong member of the
Methodist Church of Wick and the Order of Eastern Star at Middlebourne.
Surviving are three sons, Alden of Moundsville; Clarence of Texas and Creel of
Wick; one daughter, Mrs. Fonda Witz of Cleveland, Ohio and one brother, James McKnight of Conrath, Wis. A daughter Vesto
O. Carse,
died on May 11, 1937 and her husband died on November
20, 1939.
The body was removed to the Riggs Funeral Home in Moundsville where it remained
until Sunday at noon when it was taken to the Wick Methodist Church for funeral services at 2 p.m.; conducted by Rev. Frank A. Tinney, pastor of the Middlebourne U.B. Church. Burial was in Long's
Cemetery at Wick. 1943
William Creel Carse
William Creel Carse, 75, of 131 Rexford St., Sistersville, died Thursday at
home. He was a member of the East Street United Methodist Church, Middlebourne and a retired
oilfield worker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Carse in 1973. Surviving are two sons, Carlton of
Sistersville, Donald of Chula Vista, Calif., a brother, Alden Carse of Middlebourne; a sister, Fonda Weitz
of Cleveland, Ohio; three grandchildren; a great
granddaughter. Friends received at the Eckels Funeral
Home, Sistersville, where services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Interment
in Greenwood cemetery,
Sistersville.

Elizabeth J. (Betty) Cline
July 28, 1922 - Nov 26, 2006
Elizabeth J. (Betty) Cline age 84, of Middlebourne died Sunday Nov 26. 2006, at her
home. She was born on July 28, 1922. in
Sistersville, a daughter of the late M.C."Bud" and Sallie I. Stoops Burgbacher. Betty was a 1940 graduate of Tyler High School and a graduate of West Liberty College, where she recived
a teaching certificate in elementary education. She began her teaching career
in Alvy, Tyler County. She was a member of the Middlebourne Methodist Church on East Street, a member of the Eastern Star, Ruth
Chapter 7, in Middlebourne. American Legion Post 48 in
Middlebourne, a past 4-h leader and a homemaker. She is survived by two
daughters: Mrs. Bruce (Sallie) Pittman of St. Louis, Mo. and Mrs.Terry (Cathy) Fletcher of Middlebourne; a sister Mary
Carpenter of North Ft.Myers Fla;
five grandchildren: Jason Pittman and his wife Mindy of Waukesha, Wis. Tracy
Smith of Middlebourne, Melinda Walton and husband Ryan of Middlebourne, Amanda
White and fiancé Keith Moore of St. Louis, Mo. and Brooke Fletcher of
Middlebourne; eight great-grandchildren,
Trent and Regan Smith, Jo Lee and Ty Walton, Voshe White, Ella and Tea Pittman and Oliva
Moore; two step-grandchildren Julian and Martin Moore. Friends will be received
at the Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne on Wednesday
from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., where services will be held on
Thursday at 1 p.m. with Rev.. Bruce
Pittman officiating. Interment at Middlebourne Cemetrey in Middlebourne. Memorial contributions may

James M. Cokeley
James M. Cokeley, 71, of Friendly, died Tuesday in St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg. He was a retired millwright on
construction. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Jobes Cokeley; a son Nelson of Sistersville; a brother Russell of
Friendly; a sister, Ruby Horwath of Holly Hill, Fla; six grandchildren. Friends received at the Eckels Funeral Home, Sistersville, where services held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23. Interment in Friendly cemetery.
Dolores Coontz
Dolores Pearle (Paugh) Coontz,
88, a resident of River Circle Dr., Paden City, and a former resident of Locust Ave., Philippi, passed away Friday
Dec. 12, 2008 in the Sistersville General Hospital in Sistersville, WV. She was born Dec.
3, 1920 in Barbour County a daughter of the late Albert S.
and Gladys (Kelly) Paugh. She was united in
marriage to Artie Lee Coontz who proceeded
her in death Feb. 23, 1983. Surviving is one daughter; Cherita Lea and husband Keith L. Daughtery
of Paden City. Two
grandchildren; Christine Elzine Foster of Philippi, and Eric and
wife Autumn Daughtery of Paden City. Six great
grandchildren; Anthony, Shawn, and Skylar Foster, Darien, Aubrey and Kierra Daughtery. She was proceeded in death by
one brother; Denver K. Paugh. Dolores retired
from the Barbour County Board of Education as a school teacher with 32 years
service. She was a member of the Barbouor
County Association of Retired School Employees, a member of the WV Farm Bureau,
and the Paden City American Legion Ladies Auxiliary No. 86. She was a member
of the Philippi United Methodist Church. Friends were received at the
Wright Funeral Home Dec. 14 and a memorial service was held that evening.
Visitation resumed Dec 15 and a service was held with Rev. Alicia Rapking officiating.
Amanda F. Cordery
Long
Amanda F. Cordery Long, 97, of New Martinsville
Health Care Center, formerly of Paden City, West Virginia, died Thursday,
Sept. 17, 1987 in the center. She was born in Tyler County, daughter of the late George and
Charlotte Ellen McMullen Cordery. She was a retired
employee of the former Paden City Pottery, and a member of the Paden City
Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mont Long, in 1958;
two daughters, Leota and Ruth Long; a foster son,
John Childers; seven brothers. Surviving are three sons, Edward (Monzell), Bradford (Virginia) and William (Dorothy), all of
Paden City; five daughters, Eloise Blazy of Jacobsburg, Violet Kimble of Dellroy,
Ohio, Virginia Malone, Mrs. Ora (Bernadine) Stull and
Mrs. Harry (Ethel) Koerber, Jr., all of Paden City;
16 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great-great
grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Friends were received at
Mowery-Trowbridge Funeral Home, Paden City, where services were held at 2:30
p.m. Sunday
with Minister Clarence Rice officiating. Interment in Beechwood Cemetery, Tyler County.
Charles Alden Crumrine
Charles Alden Crumrine,74, of HC 69, Box 31
Middlebourne died May 27, 2001, at his residence. He died
peacefully after a lengthy illness. He was born July 1,
1926, on
the family farm, a son of the late L.A. and Susan Morris Crumrine. His wife of 49 years, Nancy Boone Crumrine, preceded him in death on May
28, 2000.
He is survived by one son, James A. Crumrine of
Middlebourne. Jim took care of Charlie following Nancy's death. Other survivors are three
daughters, Patty S. Safreed and husband Ronald of
Wheeling; Charlene Hughes and husband Larry of Hico,
W.V.; and Mary D. Long and husband Richard of Wheeling; one brother, John W. Crumrine and his wife Jacqueline of Middlebourne; five
grandsons, Dustin and Jordan Hughes, Cody and Todd Long, and Charles A. Crumrine; three granddaughters, Courtney and Ashley Hughes,
Heather Crumrine; Jim's friend Carol Savka and his many care providers and helpers, including
Donna, Terri, Cathy, Wendy, Daisy, Dorothy and Crystal; and countless faithful
friends who have visited with him and helped him in so many ways. Charlie
was a member of the Middlebourne United Methodist Church. He was a World War II veteran,
service in the Army Air Corps. He was a former postmaster of Middlebourne,
retiring in 1987 from the U.S. Postal Service after 28 years under its
employ. He was a past president and member of the Tyler county Board of
Education. He was a member of the Beechwood Cemetery
Association Board of Directors, and past treasurer of that organization.
He was a member of the West Virginia Chapter 15 of the National Association of
Postmasters and had served as its state president, along with other offices and
committees. On the national level he had served as its vice president for Area
6 and served on its national legislative committee. He was a member of
Middlebourne Lodge 34, A.F. & A.M., a 4-H All Star, member of the New
Martinsville Chapter No. 50 Order of the Easter Star, member of the American
Legion Post 48, Middlebourne, member of the Little Kanawha Resource and
Conservation Development Council, member of the Little Kanawha Soil
Conservation District and the Upper Ohio Valley Soil Conservation District
Supervisory Committee. Arrangements by Furbee
Funeral Home in Middlebourne. Internment services conducted
by Middlebourne Lodge No. 34, A.F. & A.M. Luncheon at the Middlebourne United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Lorena Crumrine
Mrs. Lorena Crumrine, Middlebourne, 83, of Main St. died Thursday morning at Sistersville General Hospital. She was born in Tyler County, a daughter of the late Everett and
Clara Williamson. She was a member of the East Street United Methodist Church, Middlebourne Ruth Chapter No. 7,
Order of the Eastern Star, Emily Rebekah of
Middlebourne, and Middlebourne American Legion Auxiliary No. 48. She is
survived by a son, Howard W. of Huntsville, Ala; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Sarah)
Jemison of Middlebourne, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert H. Crumrine,
in 1961; and a daughter, Janice D. Crumrine. Friends
received at the Goodwin Funeral Home in Middlebourne where services were held
at 1 p.m. Sunday. Interment in Middlebourne Cemetery. July 1979
