Alfred Dawson
Dawson Child Died Tuesday, Alfred Eugene Dawson 21 months old son of Crate Dawson
died at the home of his grandparents, Mrs. Mollie Dawson near Josephs Mills
Tuesday morning. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two
o'clock at
Springhill church with burial being made in the Springhill Cemetery. The child is survived by its
father and two months old sister. The child's mother died on the 21st of
October.

CARL R. DAWSON 29 Nov 1992 Carl Raymond Dawson, 60, of Wick, WV, Tyler County,
died Sunday at Sistersville General Hospital, Sistersville. Dawson was a former employee of the Colin Anderson Center. He was born in Pennsboro, son of
the late George Albert and Susan Stella Lewin Dawson.
He is survived by eight sons, Leonard, Rick, Douglas, Phillip, and James
Dawson, all of St. Mary’s, Michael Dawson of New Matamoras, OH, and Rodney and
David Dawson of Lakeland, FL; five daughters, Jody Earnest of Lubeck, Deborah Smith of Charles Town, WV, Sheila Smith of
Belmont, Tonya Smith of St. Mary’s and Sonya Smith of Sistersville; four
sisters, Evelyn Lemon of Parkersburg (unreadable) The funeral will be at 11am
Wednesday at the Ruttencutter Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial will be in McKim Cemetery, Wick, WV.
Clate R. Dawson
Clate R. Dawson, 83, of Alma died Monday,
June 1, 1992
at the Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville. He was born in Tyler County, a son of the late Harrison and
Mollie Davis Dawson. He was retired employee of the timber industry. He was
preceded in death by three brothers; four sisters; one grandson. Surviving are
his wife, Gwallia Keys Dawson, three sons, Roy
Dawson, Gary Dawson and Ronnie Dawson all of Alma; two daughters, Mrs. Steve
{Linda} Brookover of Pennsboro and Mrs. Roger {Kathy}
Griffin of Alma; one brother, Crate Dawson of Sistersville; 11 grandchildren
and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 4 at the Furbee Funeral Home, Alma, with Evangelist Paul Casebolt officiating. Interment followed in the Springhill Cemetery, Josephs Mills.

Crate R. Dawson: Alma- Crate R. Dawson, 88, of Pineview
Continuous Care, Harrisville, formerly of Joseph's Mills and Sistersville, died
March 10, 1997 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Tyler County a son of the late Harrison and
Mollie Davis Dawson. He was an employee of the timber industry and a Methodist.
Surviving are one son, Charles E. Dawson of Leesburg, Fla; two daughters, Naomi R. Noland of
Sistersville and Virginia A. Goff of Leesburg; 10 grandchildren, and 15
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Alfred Dawson; one
daughter, Juanita Dawson; four brothers; four sisters and one grandchild. Services 2 p.m. Wednesday, Furbee Funeral Home, Alma. Evangelist Roy Dawson officiating. Burial Springhill Cemetery, Joseph's Mills. Visitation 2-4
and 7-9 p.m. today.
Gary D. Dawson
Gary D. Dawson, Jr., 18, of Alma, died Sunday,
Aug. 23, 1987.
He was a 1987 graduate of Tyler County High School. He was a member of the Army
Reserve unit in New Martinsville and had received orders to report for active
duty with the U.S. Army. Surviving are his parents, Gary D. and Rella Montgomery Dawson of Alma; a sister, Rella Sue Dawson at home; maternal grandparents, Ora and Bertha Montgomery of West Union; paternal
grandparents, Clate and Gwallia
Dawson of Alma; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Services were held
Tuesday, Aug. 25 at Furbee Funeral Home, Alma. Burial
in Springhill Cemetery, Joseph's Mills, WV with full
military rites conducted by a detail from Ft. Knox, Ky.

George Dawson
Middlebourne- George Dawson, 80, of Wick in Tyler County died Sunday at his home. He was
born in Mountain. a son of the late Jerry and Harrieta Stull Dawson. He was a farmer and a member of the
Union Chapel Church of Christ at Bens Run. Survivors include five sons;
Clarence and Bernard both of Weirton, Raymond of St. Mary’s, Kenneth of
Bucyrus, Ohio. Lawernce of Brunswick. Ga.; four daughters, Mrs. Esta Dillion of West Union, Mrs.
Evelyn Ramesy of Roncervert,
Mrs Phylis Lowther of Brunswick. Ga, Mrs.
Norma Martin of Ben's Run; three brothers Homer and Ike both of Pennsboro, Wesly of Alma; three sisters Mrs
Rena Fairbee of Wick, Mrs. Goldie Hamilton of
Pennsboro, Mrs. Alice Morton of Kent Ohio. 59 grandchildren;
43 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Stella in 1969 . Funeral will be Tuesday 2:30 p.m. at the Goodwin Funeral Home, Burial
will be in the McKim Cemetery, near Wick. Friends may call at the
funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. today.
Hazel Pearl Dawson
Hazel Pearl Dawson, 69, of Care Haven of Pleasants, Belmont, WV, died, January 7,
2005. She
was born, April 3, 1935, in Doddridge County, WV, a daughter of the late Lloyd Owens
and Cronnie Lamp Summer. She was Baptist by faith.
She enjoyed playing bingo, yodeling, and loved her family. In addition to her
mother, she is survived by her children, Leonard Dawson and his wife Diane, of Murraysville, WV, Jody Earnest and her husband Allen, of Lubeck, WV, Ricky Dawson and his wife Linda, of St. Mary’s,
WV, Douglas Dawson and his wife Vickie, of St. Mary’s, WV, Deborah Smith and
her husband Jim, of Lewisville, OH, Michael Dawson and his wife Bettina, of New
Matamoras, OH, Rodney Dawson and his wife Tammy , of St. Mary’s, WV, David
Dawson and his wife Kathy, of Morganton, NC, Phillip Dawson and his wife
Kimberly, of St. Mary’s, WV. Jim Dawson and his wife Shannon, of St. Mary’s,
WV, Sheila Smith and her husband Scott, of Belmont, WV, Tonya Brown and her
husband Jim, of St. Mary’s, WV, Sonya Stewart and her husband Jerry, of
Sistersville, WV, nineteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, four
sisters, Edith Owens, Nellie Riggs, Alice Brightwell,
Shirley Wilkinson, one brother, Junior Owens, several nieces, nephews, and
cousins. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her former
husband Carl Raymond Dawson, and one daughter Janice Eilleen
Dawson. Services will be held at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Mary’s, WV, Sunday,
January 9, 2005 at 2 P.M., with Pastor John Strimer and
Pastor David Beaver officiating. Burial will be in the McKim Cemetery, Tyler County, WV. Calling hours
will be from 4 – 9 P.M. Saturday and from 1 – 2 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
James Oscar Dawson
James Oscar Dawson the eldest son of Harrison & Mollie Davis Dawson, was
born 25 May 1894. He enlisted in the U.S. Army 19 Sept. 1914 &
was discharged 22 July 1918 and was in training at Camp Lee, a private in Co. 21 155th Division. He passed away 8
Dec. 1926, surviving are his parents, 2 sisters, Mrs. Tillie Davis of Mole Hill
& Mrs. Eva Lancaster of Wileyville; 4 brothers,
John, Lloyd, Clate and Crate at home. He was a member
of the Christian Church. He was laid to rest in the Springhill Cemetery.
John Dawson
John H. Dawson, 86, of Alma, died Friday,
May 3, 1985
in Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville. He was a retired
farmer and a Protestant. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel in 1977;
two brothers, and two sisters. Surviving are two brothers, Clate
and Crate both of Alma; a sister, Tillie Davis of Tiltonsville.
Friends were received at Furbee Funeral Home, Alma,
where services were held Sunday, May 5,. Interment in Springhill Cemetery, Josephs Mills,
WV.
Mrs. Crate Dawson
Mrs. Crate Dawson of Josephs Mills passed away at her
home there Saturday night following a short illness. She began to complain on
Friday in the later part of the day, but she did not become seriously sick
until near 3:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon when her condition became serious and it
continued to become worse until she passed away near 8:30 Saturday night. Dr. V.H. Dye,
county coroner, was called on account of the suddenness of her death and he
made an investigation and was satisfied that death resulted from natural
causes. The condition of the body indicated that it might have been a case of
acute appendicitis that resulted in a ruptured appendix. Mrs. Dawson was a
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph McCune and she grew to womanhood in Centerville district. She was married to Crate
Dawson who with a two year old boy and a three months old baby survive. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the
Riggs Memorial church in charge of Rev. Leonard Crew of the Centerville, U.B. church in charge. Burial was
made in the cemetery near in charge of T.J. Sellers, Middlebourne funeral
director.
Margaret Dawson
Margaret
Dawson, 83, of Sistersville Nursing & Rehab Center, departed this life Tuesday,
November 11, 2008 in the facility. She was born November 18, 1924 in Middlebourne a daughter of the
late George and Myrtle Pierpoint Mason. Margaret was
a homemmaker and a member of the Pentecostal Church
of God, Hanford City. In addition to her parents she was
preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by two
sons; Charles Dawson of FL and Jeffery Dawson of Friendly. Two
daughters; Naomi Nolan of Sistersville and Virginia Alberta of Leesburg, FL. Several
grandchildren great grandchildren and great great
grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Furbee Funeral Home,
Middlebourne 3 - 7 pm Thursday where services will be held 3:00 pm Friday. Interment
in Fairview Cemetery, Alma.
Mollie Dawson
Mrs. Mollie Dawson Dies at Ross Run: Mrs. Mollie Dawson, 67, wife of Harrison
Dawson died at her home on Ross Run near Josephs Mills at eight
o'clock
Wednesday {Sept. 17, 1941} morning of stroke. Mrs. Dawson, a
daughter of Joseph W. and Barbara Stull Davis was born at Deep Valley, Tyler County, July 1,
1874. She
was a member of the Methodist Church. Besides her husband, she is
survived by six children, Mrs. Eva Higgans, Wileyville; John D. Dawson, Josephs Mills; Lloyd B. Dawson,
Mole Hill; Mrs. Kelly Davis, Dillonvale, Oh; Clate and Crate, twin sons at home. The funeral will be
held in Springhill Chapel by Rev. J.S. Sarver, pastor of the Wick Methodist Church at two o'clock Friday afternoon, Sept. 19.
Interment will be in Springhill Cemetery.
Stella Dawson
Stella was married to George Dawson. The couple had five sons, Clarence and
Bernard of Weirton, Raymond of St. Marys, Kenneth of
Bucyrus, OH, and Lawrence of Brunswick, GA; four daughters, Esta
Dillon of West Union, Evelyn Ramsey of Ronceverte, Phyllis Lowther
of Brunswick, GA, and Norma Martin of Bens Run. 59
grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in MicKim Cemetery, Wick.
Virginia R. Dent
April 24 1940- Nov. 26 2006
Virginia R. Dent, age 66, of
Sistersville died Nov,
26 2006. at Marietta Center in Marietta Ohio. She was born on April
24 1940, in
Canton Ohio, the daughter of the late Wilbur R.
Kepler and Alice Ewing Kepler.
Virginia was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in East Sparta, Ohio. and
attended the First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband James E.
Dent; a sister Kathryn Watt of Carrolton Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and
friend, Marylin Collett of
Sistersville. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother
William Kepler and two sisters Barbara Thomas, and
Mary Overdorf. Friends will be received at the Myers
Funeral home in Sistersville on Friday Dec. 1 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Services
will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev.Colleeen
Griffith officiating Interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Sistersville
Zelma Duff
Mrs. Zelma Duff: Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Zelma M.
Duff, a native of Tyler County, which occurred in the Presbyterian Hospital,
Pittsburgh, Pa {on April 3, 1965}. She was the daughter of the late Rymer and Missouri Ankrom, and
taught school at the Cove and New Cumberland Schools and at the time of her
death, was a member of the teaching staff of Pughtown School, Hancock County. She was a graduate of Marshall University. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs.
Jessie Keith of Harrisville, and Mrs. S.B. Ayer of Washington, D.C.; and a brother, Guy Ankrom of Alma. Her husband, Virgil Duff preceded
her in death in 1954. A sister, Mrs. Hattie Clark is also deceased. Mrs. Duff
was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where Requiem High Mass was
conducted at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The Rt. Rev. Father Eugene Jacobs officiated.
Interment was made in the Beechwood Cemetery at Alma.
