Kimble, Violet P. (Long)

Violet passed away in the New Martinsville, WV Health Care Center after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Mont E. and Amanda Cordery Long.  Violet worked at the Paden City Pottery in the 1940's then later moved to
Dellroy, OH, where, along with her late husband, Harold owned and operated a general store and filling station in Leavittsville, OH, and she worked for 23 years until her retirement from the Dellroy County Pride store in Dellroy.   She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard "Dick" Resseger, who passed away shortly after returning home from World War II , her second husband, Harold Kimble, who passed away on Sept. 30, 1964, and four sisters, Eloise Blazy, Leota Long, Virginia Malone, and Luella Ruth Long.  Violet is survived by two sisters, Bernadine Stull and Ethel Koeber, and three brothers, Edward (Monzell) Long, Bradford Long, and Bill (Dorothy) Long, all residents of Paden City, WV.  Calling hours were held on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville, OH and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Jarvis Funeral Home at Paden City, WV.  Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2007 in the Jarvis Funeral Home in Paden City with Niles Hissom of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ at New Martinsville, WV, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dellroy, OH Area Share-A-Christmas, c/o Citizen's Bank, P.O. Box No. 287, Dellroy, OH, 44620-0287. Violet was very active in the Share-A-Christmas Club.


 
Mildred Irene Knowlton

 

Mildred Irene Knowlton 97 of Belmont and formerly of Friendly and St. Mary’s died Jan. 16, 2009 at Care Haven of Pleasants in Belmont; she was born Dec. 22, 1911 in Friendly, a daughter of the late Elmer and Mary Allie Tallman Michaels. She was a member of St Mary’s United Methodist Church and its Kindness Circle. She had worked for the former Michaels Cleaners. She is survived by a daughter Martha Gatrell and her Husband Jack of Northville MI. one son James Knowlton and his wife Wanda of Daytona Beach FL several grandchildren and great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Two sisters Wilma Fiest of Sistersville and Marjorie Racer of Paden City one brother Virgil Michaels of Parkersburg; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons Harry Lewis Knowlton and John Richard Knowlton; two grandsons, Daniel Knowlton and Kenneth Knowlton; a sister Edna Michaels, and a brother Harry Michaels, Services were Monday at Ingram Funeral Home in St Mary’s with Pastor Pam Shuman officiating Interment was in Friendly Cemetery
