L. Earl Markle

L. Earl Markle 72, of Pennsboro, died Sunday morning at the Willows Nursing Home,
Parkersburg. He was born in Tyler County, a son of the late Floyd and Nettie Barker Markle, He was a member of the Pennsboro Church of Christ and retried as a mechanic with the Murphy Motor Company, Pennsboro. Surviving are one brother Carl Markle of McKim; and one sister Mrs. Hattie Jones of Weirton. He is preceded in death by his wife Leona Markle, one brother and one sister. Funeral will be Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, with the Evangelist John Tenney officiating. Burial will be in the McKim Cemetery, Tyler County. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today

Mrs. Leona Markle, 64, of Pennsboro died at CCMH Monday. She was born in
Wood County, daughter of the late Zackriah and Lillian Pribble Evans. She was a member of the Union Chaple  Church of Christ in Pleasants County and was retried from the Penesboro Manufacturing Co. She is survived by three sisters; Mrs. Ola Cox of Pittsburg, Pa. Mrs. Emma Rollyson and Mrs Grace Sprout of Parkersburg. and two brothers Claude Evans of Parkesburg and Marvin Barker of Wick . She was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers  The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro with John Tenney officiating. Burial will be in the McKim Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.


 

Berdine Matthews

Berdine Matthews, 77, of Middlebourne departed this life
Friday December 5, 2008 in Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville. She was born August 6, 1931 in Clay County, WV a daughter of the late Charles F. And Bertha Reed Eddy. Berdine was a member of the Middlebourne Emergency Medical Squad and a member of the Gorrells Run Church of Christ. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers; George and Harry Eddy. Two sisters; Pauline Parker and Ruth Jerrel. A sister-in-law Laura Eddy.  She is survived by her husband Homer L. Matthews. A son Steven L. Matthews and his wife Brenda of Paden City. A daughter Crucita Kendle and her husband Bob of Middlebourne. A brother Charles F. Eddy of Sistersville. Nine grand children; Andrea, Leah, Aaron, Bridget, Tony, Matt, Chad, Matt and Angie. Eight great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne, Sunday 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm where services will be held Monday 1:00 pm with Evangelists Niles Hissom and Morris Hafley officiating. Interment in the Elk Fork Cemetery, Middlebourne.



E. M. Mayfield

E. M. Mayfield  - 25 th of Feb 1912.      E. M. Mayfield Middlebourne merchant died Monday at
3:30 a.m at his place of business of a heart attack. He was 74 . Survivors include his widow, Edith Mayfield; one son, James E. Mayfied, Clarksburg; three daughters, Mrs. Dean T. Jackson of Parkersburg, Mrs. Howard Louden Ronceverte, and Mrs. Imogene Spencer of Middlebourne; two brothers, Grant Mayfield of New Martinsville and J. Coleman Mayfield, Moundsville; one sister.  Funeral services will be held at 2p.m.from the Middlebourne Methodist Church and burial will follow in Middlebourne Cemetery.


 

Lena M.McCrobie

Lena M. McCrobie, 64, of Alma departed this life Thursday March 13, 2008 at her home. She was born September 6, 1943 in Wetzel County a daughter of the late F. L. "Tom" and Elizabeth Wilcox Glendenning. Lena was a retired employee of PPG Industries, Natrium, WV. She was a graduate of Tyler County High School and she was a Methodist. Lena is survived by two sons; Ron McCrobie, of St Mary's, WV and Billy McCrobie and his wife Joni of Alma. A daughter Lori Wilson and her husband Frankie of Alma. Two brothers; Carl Glendenning and his wife Suzanne of Kingsport, TN and Jim Glendenning and his wife Ginny of Moundsville. Two sisters; Kathie Reed and her husband Bruce of Alma and Judy Chaney and her husband Dick of Canton, OH. Five grandchildren Leah, Tyler and Brandi Jo McCrobie and Corey and Kali Wilson. Special friends Dennis, Linda and Misty Thomas.  Friends will be received at the Furbee Funeral Home, Tyler, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm Friday where services will be held 11:00 am Saturday with Rev. Donald Thomas officiating. Interment in Alf Smith Cemetery, Middlebourne.

Rites will be held today at the Sawyer-Goodwin funeral home, Middlebourne for Lee McCune 83, Wick, Rt. 1.
Tyler County, who died Monday night at his home. He was born in Tyler County, son of the late Robert and Agnes Dawson McCune, and was a farmer. He attended the Wick Methodist Church. Surviving are his widow Mrs. Venna McCune; five sons, Lloyd McCune Wellsville.O, Harley McCune, New Cumberland, Ernest McCune, Parkersburg, Russell McCune, Waynesboro, O. and Lawernce McCune, Wyndham. O,; five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Monroe, Alliance, O. Mrs. Stella Haught, Uniontown, O. Mrs. Mary Boyd, Munday, Mrs. Myrtle Brewer, Chester, and Pearl McCune, Parkersburg. There are 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren surviving. One sister and a daughter preceded him in death. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Tyler County with the Rev. William Cook officiating.


 

Max McCune

Max McCune, 83, of Sunbridge C & R, Salem, WV formerly of Cairo, WV departed this life Sunday September 7, 2008 in the facility. He was born December 13, 1924 in Tyler County a son of the late John and Laura Atchkinson McCune. Max was a retired timber cutter and attended the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Max is survived by his wife Patricia. Two sons; Grover Leroy McCune and Calvin Max McCune both of Alma. A daughter Amy Jean Pierce of West Union. A brother Gilbert McCune of Harrisville and a sister Irene Spencer of Middlebourne. There are five grandchildren. Friends will be received at Furbee Funeral Home, Route 18, Tyler, 12 pm until 2 pm Thursday the time of the service. Reverend Louise Baker as officiant. Interment Fairview Cemetery, Bearsville Community, Alma.



Lorena Merrill

 

Lorena Mae Merrill, 82, of Glenville, formerly of Friendly passed from this life early Friday Dec. 19, 2008 at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.  Lorena was born Feb. 13, 1926 in Wetzel Co. the only daughter of the late Charles L. and Mary Ann Smith.  She graduated from Sistersville High School and was employed at Pittsburg Plate Glass and American Viscrose.  In 1946 she married Rodney R. Merrill and they made their home for the next 46 years in Friendly.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She served her God, family, friends and her community in whatever manner she could.  She was a member of the Friendly United Methodist Church and attended the First Baptist Church after moving to Glenville.  She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Dan Johnson of Glenville, two much loved grandchildren and their spouses Jenny Wellings and her husband Tom of Glenville and Mar Johnson and his wife Cate of Westover.  Also surviving are great-grandchildren Bayley and Ty Wellings of Glenville and Deta Johnson of Westover who are always first in her heart.  Also surviving are 6 nieces and nephews.  She was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother, Charles L. Smith of Dayton.  At her request there will be no visitation and burial will be at the family's convenience at the Friendly Cemetery.  Remembrances can be made at the First Baptist Church of Glenville's youth program.  Arrangements are being handled by the Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville. 


 

Blaine L. Michael

SISTERSVILLE - Blaine L. Michael, 62, of Sistersville died
June 30, 2003. He was born Aug. 20, 1940, in Tyler County, a son of the late Okey V. and Irene Baker Michael. He was a member of the BPOE 333 of Sistersville. Survivors include a brother, Frank Michael of New Orleans, La., and a sister, Goldie Michael of Phillipi. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville. Burial will be in Archers Chapel Cemetery, Tyler County. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.


 

Norman Miller

Norman E. Miller, 58, of Philippi, departed this life Friday July 18, 2008 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown. He was born in Clarksburg February 8, 1950 a son of the late Merl R. And Juanita Lemasters Miller. Norman was a laborer and a Protestant. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Marie Miller. Norman is survived by a son Norman Miller and a daughter Hope both of OH. Two brothers; Raymond C. Miller, Sr. of OH and Gary D. Miller of FL. Two sisters; Elizabeth McCune and Alberta Beauter both of OH. Friends will be received at the Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne Wednesday, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm the time of the service. Reverend Lawrence Hardesty will be the officiate. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Bearsville Community, Alma.



John F. Minger


John F. Minger, 65, of Middlebourne, Elk Fork Community died Thursday April 17, 2008 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown. He was born in Wetzel County September 18, 1942 the son of the late Shird and Katherine Blair Minger. John was a U. S. Marine Veteran having served in
Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a young sister. John is survived by a son Michael P. Minger of Savannah, GA. A sister Nancy Hall and her husband Bud of South Haven, MS. A grandson Daniel Minger and a granddaughter Elaina Minger both of Ilvesheim, Germany. Several nieces and nephews. Longtime special friends and caregivers Dee Walker of Bearsville and Bill and Blanche Murner of Elk Fork. Friends will be received at the Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne 5:00 to 7:00 pm Saturday where services will be held Sunday 2:00 pm with Evangelist Danny Allen officiating. Interment in the Wick Cemetery, Wick.  Military rights by VFW Post, 6327, Sistersville, VFW Post 4634, New Martinsville, American Legion Post, 67, Sistersville, American Legion Post, 86, Paden City and American Legion Post, 28, New Martinsville.



Raymond Morgan

 

Raymond R. Morgan, 78, of Dry Run Road, Sistersville, departed this life Sunday June 15, 2008 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown. He was born February 15, 1930 a son of the late Roy and Blanche Cooper Morgan. Raymond had worked at the Sistersville Country Club golf course and other golf courses in the area. He was a member of the Buck Run Church of Christ.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; Roger and Donald Morgan. Two sisters; Mary Jane Starkey and Virginia Dunn. Raymond is survived by his wife Nancy Billiter Morgan and his only son Rodney Morgan and his wife Brenda, Dry Run Road, Sistersville. A sister Betty Rice Dry Run Road, Sistersville. Four grandchildren; Timothy Morgan and his wife Jessica, Las Vegas, NV, Tiffany Morgan and her fiancée Eric, Courtney and Brooklyn Morgan all of Sistersville. Four great grandchildren Mckenzie, Emily, Caitlyn and Dalton. Friends will be received at the Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm Tuesday where services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday with Evangelist Tom Butterfield officiating. Interment in Paden Memorial Gardens, Paden City.



Betty Marie Moore
   

Betty Marie Moore, 71, of
Parkersburg died Sunday, October 14, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital Parkersburg, WV. She was born, November 2 1929 in Vienna, WV. a daughter of the late Emery Marvin and Opal Trudeau Fetty Barker and wife of the late Billie Moore. She was a member of the Winding Road Church of Christ, A member of the West Virginia Farm Bureau, A member of the West Virginia Retried School Employees. She worked as a custodian for Lincoln School and the Wood County School District. She was a lifetime farmer and enjoyed caring for those who were sick. She is survived by three children. Peggy Shields, Thomas Moore and wife Rachelle, Carol Moore all of Parkersburg. Two grandchildren; Charles Moore, James Shields Both of Parkersburg WV. Two brothers ;Lawrence "Gart" Barker of Danville Kentucky, and Harold Kenneth Barker of Salt Lake Utah: nieces and nephews Patty Relford Larry Barker and Lavina Ellis of Danville Kentucky and Joe Barker of Salt Lake Utah. She was preceded  in death by her parents and husband. Services will be held Friday October 19,2001, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home, St Mary’s, WV. with the Evangelist Tom Butterfield officiating. The burial will be in the McKim Cemetery, Pleasants County, WV. Calling hours will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday and up until service time Friday.


 

Billie B. Moore,  Monday  January 8, 1996 

Billie B. Moore  67 ,of Route 1,
Parkersburg. Died Monday at St. Joseph Hospital.  He was a member of National Guard Unit 1042 and Retired from Carpenters Union 899. He was a member of the Church Of Christ   Moore was born in Pleasants County, a son of the late William Henry and Ina Gertrude Cunningham Moore. He is survived by his wife, Betty Barker Moore; three sons, Thomas Moore, James Shields and Charles Moore, all of Parkersburg; two daughters, Peggy Shields of Parkersburg and Carol Moore of Parkersburg; two brothers, Edward Moore and Darrell Moore, both of Waverly; and two sisters, Ruth Wingrove of Waverly, and Betty Wilkinson of Shalimore, Fla.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Clayton Moore.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ogdin-Kimes Funeral Home with Evangelist Keith Kress officiating. Burial will be in McKim Cemetery, Tyler County.    Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-8 p.m. Wednesday.


 

Jack Arnold Mossor

Jack Arnold Mossor, 60, of
New Martinsville Health Care Center, New Martinsville,  formerly of Middlebourne, departed this life Wednesday, July 9, 2008, in the facility. He was born Oct. 27, 1947, in Wick, a son of the late Earl C. and Thelma E. Villers Mossor. Jack enjoyed collecting baseball cards. He loved the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, the Tyler Red Raiders and the Tyler Consolidated Knights. He also liked to watch professional wrestling and enjoyed playing sports with the other kids in the neighborhood. Jack was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wick and attended many other churches in the area. Jack is survived by two brothers, Robert Mossor and his wife, Anna Mae, of Bridgeport, W.Va., and Chuck Mossor and his wife, Ruby, of Wick; and several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne, with the Rev. James Willison officiating. Interment will be in Wick Cemetery, Wick, W.Va. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. today and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Jack's name to the National Association for Down Syndrome,  P.O. Box 206, Wilmette, IL 60091.



George Frederick Musgrave

George was born in Glady Creek,
Tyler County, Virginia and was the son of John M. Musgrave and Jane Lake. He married Sarah E. on Nov. 1, 1855 in Smithtown, Taylor Co., West Virginia. To this union a son was born; William Smith. Burial will be in McKim Cemetery, Wick.



Sarah Elinor (Steel) Musgrave

Sarah was born in Glady Creek,
Tyler County, Virginia and married George Frederick Musgrave, the son of John M. Musgrave and Jane Lake, on 1 Nov 1855 in Smithtown, Taylor, West Virginia. To this union a son was born; William Smith. Burial will be in McKim Cemetery, Wick.
