Charles Neff
Charles L. “Bud”
Neff, 68, of Middlebourne departed this life Monday
October 20, 2008 in Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville. He was born in Tyler County a son of the late Emery and Clara
Belle Richmond Neff. Bud was a former
employee of the Town of Middlebourne, and he was a protestant. In addition to his parents he was preceded in
death by four brothers; Russ, Danny, Ray Sr., and John. A
sister Audrey Miller. Bud is survived by his wife Shirley Dinger Neff. Two sons; Charles Robert Neff and wife Dawn, Sistersville and Jason
Lee Neff, Middlebourne. A daughter Ellen Dianna Day and husband Larry,
Sistersville. Three grandchildren; Brandy Rose, Charles “CC”
Clayton and Brian Alan Day. There will be no visitation. A grave side
service will be held at a day and time to be announced at a later date. Inurnment in Middlebourne Cemetery, Middlebourne. Furbee
Funeral Home, Middlebourne is in charge of the arrangements.
Ray L. Neff, Sr.
Ray L.
Neff, Sr., 78, of Sellers Road, Middlebourne departed this life Sunday
October 19, 2008 at his home. He was born February 28, 1930 in Tyler County a son of the late Emery and Clara
Belle Richmond Neff. Ray was a retired employee of Weirton Steel, Weirton, WV and he was a protestant. In
addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Stump Neff
June 6, 1993. Three brothers; Russ, Danny and John.
A sister Audrey Miller. Ray is survived by five sons;
Ray L. Neff, Jr., York Township, PA, Richard E. Neff, Charleston, WV, William B. Neff, Middlebourne,
Daniel T. Neff, Winchester, VA and James P. Neff, Clear Brook, VA. A daughter Brenda
L. Neff - Derby, Hedgesville, WV. A brother Charles
Neff, Middlebourne. Ten grandchildren and one great
grandson. Friends will be
received at the Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne,
Tuesday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm where services will be held Wednesday 1:00 pm with Bud Bassett officiating. Interment in Middlebourne Cemetery, Middlebourne.
Zelma Neff
Zelma Neff, 93, of
the New Martinsville Health Care Center, New Martinsville, formerly of Elk
Fork, Middlebourne departed this life Friday February 8, 2008 in the facility.
She was born June 4, 1914 in Tyler County a daughter of the late Albert and
Laura Buck Rice. She was a homemaker and a Protestant. In addition to her
parents she was preceded in death by her husband Frederick Neff. A son Frederick Neff. A daughter Laura
Jane Van Camp. Five brothers; Russell, Fenton, Roy,
Junior and Bob Rice. Three sisters; Rosa Mercer Rice,
Geraldine Neff Rice and infant Faye Rice. A grandson
Robert Van Camp. A great grandson and a great
granddaughter. Zelma is survived by Three sons; Charles Neff ( Doris ), Minerva, OH, James Neff, Middlebourne and Dervin Mercer ( Roxie ), Newell,WV. A brother Ray Rice ( Rosie ), Weirton. A sister Doll Strait, Mechanicstown, OH. Six grandchildren; Ronnie and
Charlene Van Camp, Linda and Dennis Thomas, David and Virginia Van Camp and
Bill and Elva Swan all of Middlebourne, Mary and Pat Martie,
Sardis, OH and Tracy Neff, Minerva, OH. Several great,
and great great grandchildren along with several
nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Furbee
Funeral Home, Middlebourne 7 - 9 pm Sunday where services will be held 1:00 pm Monday with Pastor James
"Bud" Bassett officiating. Interment in Simpson Cemetery, Elk Fork,
Middlebourne.
James W. Newbrough
James W. Newbrough, 75, of Middlebourne departed this
life January 4, 2008 at his home. He was born June
8, 1932 the
son of the late James Willard and Artie Mae McGill Newbrough.
Jim was a loving husband and father who will be greatly missed. He was a
retired employee of the Tyler County Board of Education having been a mechanic
and substitute bus driver. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army and a Methodist.
Jim is survived by his wife Linda Bassett Newbrough. A son James W. Newbrough, Jr. Two
daughters; Katy Harter and her husband Barry and Goldie Mae Maxwell and her
husband Michael. A grandson Dylan James Harter all of Middlebourne. Friends will be received
at the Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne, Monday,
January 7, 2008, 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm where services will be held Tuesday
at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bud Bassett officiating. Interment
in Middlebourne Cemetery, Middlebourne.
Barbara Nichols
Barbara Nichols, 75, of Alma, Centerville Community, departed this life Wednesday
January 28, 2009 at her home. She was born April 11, 1933 in Tyler County a daughter of the late Herman
Moffitt and Eathel Boyce Moffitt Johnston. Barbara
was a homemaker and a member of the Alma Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was
preceded in death by her husband Cleryl Gene Nichols
and a son Christopher Nichols. Barbara is survived by two daughters Darla
Dennis and her husband Don of Sardis, OH and Carla Thomas and her husband Danny
of Alma. A brother Robert Johnston and his wife Carolyn of
Alma. A sister Judy Ash and her husband Carl of
Friendly. Three granddaughters; Krista Dennis, New
Martinsville, Jodee Thomas, Sistersville and Melanie
Thomas, Alma. A great
granddaughter Alissa Martin, Sistersville.
Friends will be received at the Furbee Funeral Home,
Route 18, Tyler, Friday 2 -4 and 7 - 9 pm where services will be held Saturday
1:00 pm with Reverend Donald Thomas officiating. Interment in
Beechwood Cemetery, Alma.
Nichols, Ralph W.
Ralph W. Nichols, 67, 100 Olin Drive, Woodsfield, Ohio, died Tuesday,
June 9, 2002,
in Monroe County Health Care Center, Woodsfield. He was born at Alma, W.Va., a son of the late Lotus and Laura
Thomas Nichols. He was a retired employee of the Ormet
Corp., Hannibal, Ohio. He was a member of the Woodsfield Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Poole Nichols, in 1999; one brother,
Ray Nichols, and one sister, Phyllis Hanshaw. He is
survived by one son, Ralph W. Nichols Jr., Canal Winchester, Ohio; one daughter,
Lisa Mazzu of Haymarket, Va.; one sister, Maxine Cook of Woodward, Okla.; six grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Furbee
Funeral Home, Middlebourne, where services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday with Dr. Jim Green
officiating. Interment in Beechwood Cemetery, Alma.
Sheila Mae Nichols
Sheila Mae Nichols, 34, of Sistersville departed this life Thursday,
February 7, 2008 at her residence. She was born June 18, 1973 a daughter of Donald Glover of Alvy and the late Phyllis Kinney Glover. Sheila was a protestant. In addition to her
father she is survived by a son Daniel Nichols of Ohio. A brother Glen
Glover of Alvy and a sister Connie Snyder of Ohio.
Friends will be received at the Furbee Funeral
Home, Tyler 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm Saturday where services will be held 2:00 pm
Sunday with Reverend Louise Baker and Reverend Robert Mets officiating. Interment in Victory Cemetery, Alma.
Sarah M. Nolan
Mrs. Sarah M. Nolan, widow of Alfred Nolan, died in the Sistersville General
Hospital Monday morning at 10 o'clock of pneumonia, which developed after
Mrs. Nolan fractured a hip bone in a fall about two weeks ago. She was a
daughter of the late Justice and Martha Postlethwait
of Wetzel County. At the time she was injured she
was living with her son, Ross Nolan at Dale, in Tyler County. Mrs. Nolan was a member of the Church of Christ at Dale. Surviving are the
following children: Festus and A.C. Nolan, of Asher, Oklahoma; Ross and G.A. Nolan at Dale; Miss
Irene Nolan at Jacksonburg and M.C. Nolan of Michigan. Funeral services were held
Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Dale Church of Christ.
Burial was made in the Dale Cemetery in charge of Stathers
and Furbee Funeral Directors. 1937
Grace L. Northcraft
Grace
Lucille Northcraft, 96, of Belmont, W.Va., died March 23,
2005, at Carehaven of Pleasants. She was born Sept.
29, 1908,
at Beech Run, Pleasants County, W.Va., a daughter of the late John A.M.
and Sarah E. Adams Jones. She was a member of the Raven Rock United Methodist Church, and was a 1929 graduate of St.
Mary’s High School. She enjoyed doing crafts and was a regular participant at
the Santa's Workshop, showing her skills at crocheting, quilt making, pillow
craft and other for many years in St. Marys. She
retired from Colin Anderson Center. She is survived by one daughter
and son-in-law, State Senator Donna and Jack E. Boley
of St. Marys; two daughters-in-law, Pam Northcraft of Norcross, Ga., and Janice Northcraft
of New Cumberland, W.Va.; grandsons, Brian L. Boley
and his wife, Saundra, of Lowell, Ohio, Eddie Northcraft
and his wife Sharon, of New Manchester, W.Va., Scott Northcraft,
of Norcross and Mike Northcraft of Toronto, Ohio;
granddaughters, Kari L. Long of Morgantown, W.Va., Sharon Piquet of Newton
Falls, Ohio, Shirley McClelland of Toronto and Sarah Northcraft
of Norcross; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and
great-great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, Glen A. Northcraft; two
sons, Glen Northcraft Jr. in 1998, and Larry P. Northcraft of Norcross on March 1,
2005; three
sisters; and six brothers. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Ingram Funeral
Home, St. Marys, with the Rev. John Strimer officiating. Burial will be in the Long Reach Cemetery, Long Reach, Tyler County, W.Va. Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
