Betty Lee Rader
Betty Lee
Rader, 67, formerly of Cross Lanes, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday,
Dec 6, 2008,
after battling lung cancer. After being diagnosed in October of 2007,
Betty continued to live life to the fullest and she fought a good fight.
Through Hospice Care, she was able to travel and fulfill lifelong dreams.
Betty was born in Tyler County. She was a loving mother,
grandmother, sister and friend, who loved to golf, sew, travel and paint.
Betty is survived by three daughters; Teresa Rader Carver and husband Drew
Carver of North Carolina; Beth Rader Plummer and husband Robert Plummer of Alabama;
Shelly Rader Shamblin and husband Kenny Shamblin of Poca; seven grand-children, Jacob Carver, Samantha Shamblin, Robert Plummer II, Abigail Barr Carver, Matthew
Plummer, Isaac Shamblin and Chloe Plummer and one
sister, Barbara Ferrell Vincent of Sistersville. Betty was proceeded in death
by her husband John, mother and father; grandson. A celebration of
Betty's life was held at 12 p.m. on Monday
December 15, 2008 at Cross Lanes Baptist Church (Cross Lanes exit off i-64).
Betty's body is being donated to WVU for research. In lieu of flowers,
the family requested that donations be sent to Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. West, Charleston, WV 25312, Special thanks to Dr. Seth and
staff ant to Hospice Care staff for their love and compassion. Snodgrass
Funeral Home, South Charleston, is handling the arrangements.
Wanda Rice
April 20, 1927- Jan.2, 2009
Wanda Berdine Rice, 81 of Middlebourne departed this life Friday,
Jan. 2 2009
at her home. She was born April 20, 1927 in Bridgeport Ohio a daughter of the
late Harley and Juanitta Fraley Wheeler, Wanda was a
member of the Church of Christ since the 1940's she attended several
congregations and most recently was a member of the Muddy Creek Church Christ
Middlebourne. She was a 1945 graduate of Wintersville High School . Wintersville Ohio. Wanda taught children Bible
classes, Operated Rice's Book and Gift Shoppe for over 25 years and helped her
husband with publication of Fascinating Puzzle Books. She was a homemaker and
loved crafts and gardening. In addition to her parents she was preceded in
death by a son-in -law, Richard Reeder. Wanda is survived by her husband
Clarence Rice they enjoyed 61 years of marriage; Two sons Fred Rice of Charlotte . N.C. and Richard Rice of West Blockton Ala. a daughter Patrica
Reeder of New Port Ohio; a sister Ruth Clutter of Coldwater, Mich; nine grandchildren and 16 great
grandchildren. Friends were received at Furbee
Funeral Home on Monday. from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9p.m.and Tuesday 3-5 pm.
Services will be held at the Middlebourne Church of Christ with Evangelists
Homer Matthews and Morris Hafley officiating. Interment in Beechwood Cemetery Alma.
Mary Roberts
Mary E.
Roberts, 79, of Sistersville Center, formerly of Wilbur departed this
life Wednesday October 22, 2008 in the facility. She was born in Atlanta, GA January 22, 1929 the daughter of the late John and Meriam Roberts. Mary
was a member of the Alma Volunteer Fire Department and a volunteer for ASCS.
She was an avid collector of antiques. She was a protestant. In addition to her
parents she was preceded in death by two brothers; John and Stanley Roberts.
Mary is survived by her friend and companion Mary Kahler
of Wilbur. There will be no visitation. A grave side service will be held 11:00
am Saturday October 25, 2008 at Wilbur Cemetery, Wilbur with Reverend Donald Thomas
officiating. Furbee Funeral Home, Tyler in charge of
arrangements.
