Thomas Andrew Walters
Thomas Andrew Walters, 67, of Parkersburg departed this life June
26, 2002,
after a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 4, 1934, in Alvy, W.Va., a son of Mary Ash (Marie) Walters,
Reader, W.
Va., and
the late Stanley Walters. He graduated and received his music major from Salem College, with graduate work at Penn State
U. U.S.Air Force, was a member of the U.S. Air Force
Band & the Air Force "Blue Notes" Jazz Band. He was
baptized in the Church of Christ and was a member of Middlebourne
Masonic Lodge 34 A.F. & A.M. He taught music in WVA
, Penn., and Ohio school systems, and at Salem College. He was also a former band
director at Parkersburg South High School, Ravenswood High, Southern High in Racine, Ohio, and River High in Hanniball, Ohio. He was well known for his
saxophone playing in various groups in the Parkersburg area, which included Blennerhassett Trio & Charisma.I
n addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Phyllis Nichols Walters;
one daughter, Lori Jill Myers and son-in-law, Greg Myers both of Washington,
W.Va.; one grandson, Andrew Kemp Myers of Washington, W.Va.; one brother, John
Walters, of Wheeling, W.Va.; three sisters, Janice Seckman
of Baltimore, Md., Judy Kocher of Porters Falls,
W.Va., and Joan Michelle "Mickey" Walters of Reader, W.Va.; and one
brother-in-law, Harry Nichols of Parkersburg. Funeral services will be held 11
a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Lambert-Tatman
Funeral Home, South Parkersburg, with Rev.Gary Saler officiating. Burial will be at Beechwood Cemetery in Alma, W.Va.Masonic

Bobbie O. Watson
Watson, Bobbie O., 71, of South Wells St. Sistersville, died Feb.
8, 1998 in Sistersville General Hospital. She was retired from Sistersville General Hospital and was a member of the First
Christian Church, Sistersville. She was preceded in death by her parents
Everett and Ettie Johnson Drake; her husband John
Perry Watson; two brothers and one sister. Surviving are two daughters Patricia
Watson Rizzo of Raleigh, N.C.; Iretta Frame of
Mineral City, Ohio; two brothers, Warren Drake of Newton Falls, Ohio and Ernest
Drake of Portersville, Pa; three sisters, Dorcas
Strawn of Cameron, WV, Ruth Kitelinger of Poland,
Ohio; and Mildred Dohner of Creston, Ohio and a dear
friend Jody Simmons of Raleight, N.C., two
grandchildren and one great grandchild. Friends were received Tuesday from 6 to
8 at her home on 210 South Wells St. Sistersville. Funeral services will

Artie Weekley
Artie J. Weekley, 94, of Belmont formerly of Wilbur departed this
life Tuesday April 1, 2008 in Care Heaven of Pleasants, Belmont, WV. She was born October
25, 1913 in
Tyler County a daughter of the late Jacob and
Victoria White Smith. Artie was a former
employee of Pratt and Whitney, Hartford, CN and Pure Ice Cream, Clarksburg, WV. She was a member of Fairview Church, Wilbur. In addition to her parents she was preceded
in death by her husband Glenver O. Weekley December 28, 1994. Two brothers;
Gale and Dale Smith. A sister Gertrude Reed. Artie is survived by a son Lawrence R. Weekley of Wilbur.Two grandsons;
Daniel Weekley and his wife Amy of Pasadena, MD and
Brian Weekley of Lynchburg, VA. A great grandson
John Weekley at home. A

David Marshall Weekley
David
Marshall Weekley, 53, of Shirley, Camp Run passed away peacefully Sunday
July 13, 2008
surrounded by his family. He was born August 22, 1954 in Weirton a son of the late Clarence Marshall
and Ruby Kester Weekley.
David grew up in Shirley attending Shirley Elementary School till eighth grade then going to
Tyler County Highschool in Middlebourne where he
graduated in 1975. Growing up he attended Shirley United Methodist Church. In 1978 he married Teresa May
Goldsmith and went to work for Glaspell Lumber
Company of West
Union. He
worked there for 30 years. In addition to his wife David is survived by 2 sons;
Thomas Marshall Weekley who is a Staff Seargent in the U. S. Army stationed in El Paso, TX. Adam Dewayne Weekley who is going to school at Potomac State College, Keyser, WV. Two brothers; Clifton Dewayne Weekley ( Butch ) and his wife
Sandy of Weirton. Perry Leroy Weekley ( Tiny ) and his wife Jackie of Middlebourne. Two sisters;
Paula Jean Dunlap and her husband Brian of St. Augustine, FL. Clarissa ( Chris ) Irene Seese and her
husband Joe of Shirley. David followed his sons all their way through high
school years as they played football and wrestling. He attended all their games
and matches, taking much pride in their accomplishments and being there to
support them in their losses. He was a quiet person preferring home and family
to other things. David was close to Teresa's family and he loved his
mother-in-law Brenda Goldsmith and her daughters; Carmel, Dedria,
Betty and Tony Jo. He playedwith all of hus nieces and nephews and visited
with them often. He worked hard and had many friends at the saw mill and in
Shirley. He will be greatly missed. Friends will be received at the Furbee Funeral Home, Route 18, Tyler, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm Wednesday
where services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday with Reverend Louise Baker
officiating. Interment in Shirley Cemetery, Shirley.

Weekley, Donald Eugene, 81, of Middlebourne, died Friday,
May 12, 2006
in Wheeling Park Hospital.
He was born April 22, 1925 in Tyler County, a son of the late Oak and Lydia
Anderson Weekley. He was a retired employee of
Weirton Construction with 35 years of service; and was a Protestant by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Genevive Elder, Arlene Henderson, Ruby Ivers,
Geraldine Tusic; a brother, Dick Weekley.
Donald is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wilma Henderson Weekley;
three daughters, Sharon Elliott, Richmond Hills, Ga., Carol Turkaly
and husband, Michael, Weirton and Barbara Smitz and
husband, Richard, of Berlin, Md.; two sons, Donald K. Weekley
and wife, Rosemary, Weirton and David B. Weekley and
wife, Jennifer, Harrisville.; six grandchildren, Meshell
Smith, Hinersville, Ga., Jennifer Turkaly,
Siera Vista, Ariz., Marsha Derby, Reader, Eric

Harold J. Weekley, 77, of Warren Ohio, formerly of Tyler County, departed this life Thursday
February 12, 2009 in Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, OH. He was born October
4, 1931 in Tyler County a son of the late Paul B. And Arlie Thompson Kile. Harold was a retired truck driver for
Parkersburg Delivery Service, Parkersburg and he was a Protestant. In
addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Janice Ferrebee Weekley in 2003. A sister Mary Kile. Surviving are
five sons; Mike Weekley, Big Issac,
WV, Frank Weekley, and Calvin Weekley
both of Parkersburg, Terry Weekley, Warren, OH and

Juanita L. Weekley
Juanita L. Weekley, 86, of Elk Fork, departed this life
January 8, 2008 in New Martinsville Health Care Center. She was born
in Tyler County March 9, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Lydia
Haught. Juanita was a home maker and a member of the
Iuka Church of Christ. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by
her husband Orrin W. Weekley and a granddaughter
Cathy Jean Skiles. Survivors include her five
children; Norma Williams of Uniontown, PA, Ernie Weekley and his
wife Donna of New Martinsville, Patsy Fonner and her
husband Ed of Newport News, VA, Kathy Lee and her husband Dave of York, SC and
John Weekley and his wife Sue of New Martinsville. Twelve grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. Two special
friends; Marge Staley and Betty Adams.
Friends will be received at the Furbee Funeral Home,
Middlebourne Thursday 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm where services will be

Betty Weigle
Betty L. Weigle, 75, of Middlebourne, departed this
life Monday, November 10, 2008 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. She was born November
14, 1932 in
Wetzel County, a daughter of the late Lonzy P. And Bertha Mason Wade. Betty was a graduate of Tyler County High School, Middlebourne. She was a homemaker
and a Protestant. In addition to her
parents she was preceded in death by a son, Steven Weigle.
A grandson, James Seago.
Three brothers: Norman, Stanley and Eugene Wade. A sister,
Geraldine Briggs. Betty is
survived by her husband Edwin C. “Bud” Weigle. A
daughter, Kathy Ann Seago and her
husband Richard of Hoover, AL. A daughter in law, Ginger Griffin and her
husband Mike of Alma.Two sisters: Kathleen Cline of Paden City and Edith Baxter of Proctor. Four
grandsons: Steven Weigle II and his wife Melinda of
Middlebourne, Brian Weigle and his wife Sherry of
Middlebourne, Michael Griffin and his friend Shawna Weekley of Alma and Daniel Seago
of Hoover, AL. Two granddaughters: Michelle Forrester and her husband Bobby of
Alma and Kristy King and her husband Eddie of Rockville, MD. Several
great grand children. A special niece Loretta Fulks.

Donald Wells
Donald L. Wells, 73, of Moundsville departed this life Wednesday,
March 26, 2008 in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale. He was born in
Moundsville, May 1, 1934 a son of the late Bernie and Gladys
Stern Wells. Donald was a retired
employee of the City of Moundsville. He was a member of the Church of God.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife
Phyllis White Wells in 1965 and his second wife Loretta Taylor Barnhart Wells
in 2005. Two brothers and three sisters.
Donald is survived by three sons; Rocky Wells and his wife Cathy of
Moundsville, Brent Wells and his wife Edna of Berkley Springs and Roger Wells
and his wife Ann of Moundsville. Two daughters; Donna Hooker and her husband Bill and Jackie Hostutler
and her husband Tony all of Moundsville. A sister Pauline Winland of Moundsville. There are twelve
grandchildren. Friends will be received
at the Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne 2 - 4 and 7
- 9 pm Friday where services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday. Interment
in Middlebourne Cemetery, Middlebourne.
Leland A. Wells
Leland A. Wells, 73, of 408 Durham St., Sistersville, died April
25, 2002,
at his residence. He was born in Tyler County, July 24, 1928, a son of the late Dallas and Ona Archer Wells. He was a retired employee of West
Virginia Dept. of Highways. He was a member of the Sistersville First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 47
years, Martha Michael Wells; one son, Thomas L. Wells and wife Lois, of
Sistersville; one daughter, Patricia A. Willboite and
husband, Daniel, of Sardis, Ohio; and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by his parents; and a brother, Kenneth Wells. Services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, at Myers Funeral Home,
Sistersville, with the Rev. Ken Scovell officiating.
Burial will be in the Archers Chapel Cemetery, Tyler County. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

72, a resident of Valparaiso, Ind. since 1966,formely of West Virginia, passed away Sunday
Dec. 24,2006,at
Porter Hospital in Valparaiso. She was born Mar.
21, 1934. In Middlebourne, the late daughter of Leslie H. and Ada A. Weekly. She had worked as a buyer for
Bethlehem Steel for 25 years, retiring in 1995. She was a gifted seamstress, an
exceptional cook and loved her family very much. She is survived by her
husband, Richard L. White of Valparaiso Ind; a son Richard (Joan) White II, of
Port Orchard Wash.

Moore Johnston Wickham
McMECHEN, W.Va. - Mae O. Moore Johnston Wickham, 88, of McMechen, W.Va., formerly of Sistersville, W.Va. passed away peacefully Tues- day, March
1, 2005, in
Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, W.Va.
She was born Nov. 12, 1916, in Middlebourne, W.Va., a daughter of the late Elias and
Margaret Catherine Cooper Moore of Tyler County, W.Va. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Virgil D. Wickham and Franklin Johnston; a daughter, Jacqueline; four
brothers, E. Glenn, Wayne, Harry and Ivan Moore; three sisters, Mary Grace
Moore, Edith Moore and Hilda Moore Anderson.
Mae was a retired histology technician with Reynolds Memorial, East Ohio
Regional and Bellaire City Hospitals. She was a devout Christian and
thirty-three year member of the First Christian Church in McMechen,
where she was a deaconess Emeritus, former board member, choir member and
member of The Loyal Gle- aners
Class. She was also a long time
volunteer with the Wheeling Soup Kitchen, as well as a well known seamstress
throughout the area. Surviving are three sons, Eddie Johnston and his wife,
Emily of Malta, Ohio, Dean Johnston and his wife, Jane of Glen Dale, W.Va. and
Mike Johnston of Wheeling; four daughters, Natalie Johnston Doty of Wintersville, Ohio, Catherine Johnston Cuddeback
and her husband, Robert of Michigan City, Ind., Debbie Monahan and her husband,
Paul of Houston, Texas and Charla Schultz and her hus- band, Tim of McMechen; 10
grandchildren, Raelinn Doty Stegall
of Chattanooga, Tenn., Mark Johnston of Zanesville, Ohio. Kerri Johnston

Williamson
Died December 27, 1922 Mrs. Demie E. Williamson, age
64, wife of Leroy Williamson, died at her home in this city Wednesday, December
27th from an attack of pneumonia. Funeral services will be held Friday
afternoon at 2 o'clock in the M. P. Church. Interment will be made in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Harvey Williamson
Harvey Williamson, 81 years, 11 months and 5 days old, died Sunday at 12:00
o'clock at
his home at 231 Clay Street, Sistersville. He is survived by
his wife, Mrs. Hannah Rinard Williamson, one
daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Zinn, of Sistersville; a
grandson, Allen Zinn of Sistersville; and one sister,
Mrs. Emma Herlacker of Paden City. Funeral services were conducted
Tuesday at his late home in charge of Rev. P.H. McKain
and Rev. D.I. Davis of Sistersville. Interment in Greenlawn Memorial Park, New Martinsville, was in charge of
the Iams Funeral Service. Mr. Williamson had been a
member of Middlebourne Lodge A.F. & A.M. for sixty years. Sept. 1942
James Edward Williamson
James Edward Williamson, aged 26 years, died Monday morning at 2:00
o'clock in
the Sistersville General Hospital. Mr. Williamson was a resident of Klondyke Ave. and had been ill for only a few
days having been admitted to the hospital Sunday evening. He was born December
21, 1916 at
Waverly, WV. His parents preceded him in death a number of years ago. He was
united in marriage March 3, 1936 to Miss Helen Virginia Kemp at
Sistersville, and to this union two children were born. James Edward Jr., age
6, and William Jr., age two years. Mr. Williamson had been employed the past
several months at the Sistersville Refining Co., station across from the Hotel
Wells. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Christian Church
with Rev. L.E. Groseclose officiating. Interment was
in Greenwood Cemetery in Sistersville. 1943
Mrs. Leroy Williamson
Demmie E. Peters, daughter of and Rebecca Peters, was
born September 5, 1858 and departed this life December
27, 1922.
She was united in marriage with LeRoy Williamson April
3, 1879, to
this union were born three sons, on which preceded her in death, November 1903.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, two sons, Abner
J. Williamson, Louisville, Ky. and Marshal Williamson, this city, also three
sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Sylvester Smith, Marietta, 0., Mrs. John
Michaels, Sistersville, W.Va.; Mrs. Minnie Echols, Ellenboro, W. Va., Thomas
Peters, Moundsville, W. Va., Austin Peters, Hebron, W.Va., Ervin Peters,
Athens, 0., Peters, Shawnee, W.Va.; Three grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. Mrs. Williamson joined church early a life a member of M.
P. Church at Mt. Pleasant, W.Va. She was a devoted wife and mother
and will be greatly missed by her neighbors and friends who knew her. She was a
patient sufferer and prayed till the end and was ready to meet her Heavenly
Father when the end came. She was 64 years, 3 months and 22 days.
Aleta M. Wilson
Aleta M. Wilson, 98, formerly of Sistersville, W.Va. passed away Saturday,
February 7, 2009 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling, W.Va. She was born April
22, 1910 in
Upshur
County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Ernest F.
and Mary Maude McClain. Mrs. Wilson was co-owner with her late husband of the
Tyler County Journal and had been a secretary at Sistersville Junior High School. She was an accomplished bridge
player in the tri-state area and a member of Sistersville Elks Emblem Club,
Martha Washington Chapter #22 OES, and a former member of the Middlebourne
Women’s Club. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Sistersville United Methodist Church.
She is
survived by her daughters, Winifred Surkosky and husband,
Robert, of Stafford, Va., Jackie Thompson of Colonial Beach, Va. and Willa Knollinger and husband, Douglas, of Triadelphia, W.Va.;
five grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband of 47 years, Ralph F. Wilson; four brothers, Ferrell,
John, Kenneth and William McClain; and a sister, Edith Holland. Memorial
services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Sistersville
United Methodist Church, Sistersville, W.Va. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood
Cemetery, Sistersville, W.Va.
Mrs. Rose Ann Wood
Mrs. Rose Ann Wood, 78, of Sistersville passed away Aug. 5,
1937. She
was born June 28, 1859, a daughter of William and Mary
Hill. She married James Levi Wood, May 25, 1876 who preceded her in death in 1918.
Surviving are one son, George Wood, 2 daughters, Mrs. Lulu Tallman and Miss Christey Wood, one brother, William Hill and 4 sisters,
Mrs. Charles Hassig, Mrs. John Eddy, Mrs. Esther Stealy and Mrs. Warren Palmer, 8 grandchildren and 1 great
grandchild. Services were held at her home and interment made in Lazure Chapel Cemetery.
